Here's my strategy that helped me earn massive points:

The Setup

  • HDFC Diners Black (primary)
  • HDFC Infinia (travel)
  • Amazon Pay ICICI (Amazon)

    • The Strategy

    Month 1: Festival Sale Stacking

  • Bought ₹2L worth on SmartBuy during sale = 20,000 points (10X)
  • Regular spends = 5,000 points

    • Month 2: Insurance Premiums

  • Paid annual insurance (₹80K) via SmartBuy = 8,000 points
  • Health insurance for family = 4,000 points
  • Regular spends = 5,000 points

    • Month 3: Travel Bookings

  • Booked international flights = 15,000 points
  • Hotel via SmartBuy = 8,000 points
  • Regular spends = 5,000 points

    • Key Learnings

  • Timing is everything - wait for 10X promotions
  • Consolidate big purchases to eligible cards
  • Use SmartBuy religiously

    • Total: ~100K points = approximately ₹33,000 value!

    For international travel, I transfer to Singapore Airlines. 1:1 transfer ratio is great.
